What Are Dental Emergencies?

Dental emergencies can include severe toothache, a broken or chipped tooth or crown, a tooth knocked out, or an abscess or infection. Getting care as quickly as possible is important, because:

  • A broken or chipped tooth is weakened and can break further or break down completely if not fixed right away
  • A knocked-out tooth can often be put back in if we see you soon enough
  • Severe toothaches are often a sign of infection, and we always want to treat them as soon as possible to prevent decay and infection

Our Approach

We have time set aside every day for emergency visits, and we do our best to see you on the same day you call in. If that’s not possible, we’ll get you in the next day.

Dr Edward Jo (dentist) will talk with you about the problem and then examine the area. He’ll take photos and X-rays to properly diagnose the issue and then explain his findings and recommendations for treatment. When possible, we’ll complete the treatment at this same visit. Sometimes, involving root canals or broken/chipped teeth, we may have to place a temporary crown while waiting for the lab to fabricate a permanent crown.

We do not charge extra for emergency services. Our normal fees for any necessary treatments will apply.

Don’t ‘Wait and See’

Dental emergencies don’t tend to get better with time! If you’re not sure your issue is an emergency, that’s okay—we’d rather have you err on the side of caution and let us take a look right away.
