Dental Bridges in Salamander Bay & Nelson Bay, Port Stephens

model bridgeBridges are an excellent and predictable way to replace missing teeth. These custom restorations are strong, permanent and long-lasting. At Cheeky Grin Dental Port Stephens, we recommend fixed bridges for patients who may not qualify for dental implants or when the teeth adjacent to their missing one would benefit from a protective crown.

What are Bridges?

Dental bridges are multi-tooth restorations that are shaped to fill in missing teeth while the ends are anchored onto neighbouring teeth. We craft the bridge to look as if the tooth is emerging from the gums, minimising any gaps between the bridge and gum tissue for a natural-looking appearance.

The ends of the bridge act like a functional crown, covering the tooth that supports it. This design makes it an excellent option for anyone who has heavily-restored teeth with large fillings next to their missing tooth.

The Treatment Process

The procedure for getting a bridge is similar to a crown. First, we anesthetise and shape the teeth to prepare them to act as pillars for the bridge. Then a mould or scan is taken, which our ceramists use to create the custom restoration. A short time later, you’ll return for a follow up visit, where we bond your ceramic bridge onto the supporting teeth.
